About the position

The Community Engagement Coordinator will work within the Attorney General's Community Engagement Division to enhance outreach and support for diverse communities in Southeastern Massachusetts. This role focuses on building partnerships, delivering public awareness presentations, and organizing community engagement events to ensure that the services of the Attorney General's Office are accessible to all residents.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and cultivating partnerships with community groups, organizations, and stakeholders, particularly with marginalized communities.
  • Representing the Office at public events and attending community meetings to assess partnership opportunities and communicate AGO mission.
  • Identifying collaboration opportunities with community leaders and advocacy organizations to advance AGO mission and strategic priorities.
  • Informing the public about the Attorney General's Office services and delivering trainings on various topics such as consumer protection and workers' rights.
  • Planning, organizing, and participating in community engagement events, including Wage Theft Clinics and regional summits.
  • Coordinating and supporting advisory council meetings.
  • Providing general administrative and office support to the New Bedford Regional Office.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated connection to the communities served in Southeastern MA and interest in fostering an inclusive work environment.
  • Experience in giving public awareness presentations and trainings.
  • Bilingual candidates preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse populations is preferred.
  • Strong strategic thinking and results-oriented skills.
  • Self-starter with effective time management abilities.
  • Ability to set clear goals and measure performance continuously.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to facilitate and lead meetings and events.
  • Experience coordinating events, including logistics and developing materials.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, MailChimp, Zoom, Canva, and other software.

  • Experience working with people with disabilities, environmental justice communities, immigrant communities, migrant workers, elders, youth, and low-income residents.
