About the position

The Community Engagement Lead for Overdose Prevention in Allegheny County is a full-time, grant-funded position focused on providing education and resources to communities affected by the overdose crisis. This role involves training first responders and community members on harm reduction strategies, developing educational materials, and fostering partnerships with community organizations to enhance access to care and support for those impacted by opioid use and addiction.

Responsibilities

  • Training various stakeholders on Narcan administration and other harm reduction strategies
  • Developing educational materials and presentations related to addiction, treatment access, and harm reduction
  • Building relationships with first responders, community leaders, and partners to support those affected by opioid use
  • Organizing outreach in communities with high overdose rates
  • Using data to prioritize work in communities with the greatest need
  • Supporting community-based Narcan distribution and tracking overdose reversals
  • Representing ACHD at meetings and community events
  • Assisting with administrative tasks such as newsletters and managing spreadsheets
  • Supervising Overdose Prevention Community Outreach staff
  • Reporting on grant outcomes to leadership and project officers
  • Monitoring grant budget for outreach supplies
  • Streamlining planning processes for outreach days
  • Assisting with internal ACHD programs to expand community engagement
  • Working with fiscal officers to manage budgets
  • Attending technical training institutes and conferences as necessary

Requirements

  • Relevant work experience in community outreach, public health education, addiction treatment, social work, or related fields
  • At least two years of experience in organizing community outreach
  • Strong report writing and writing skills
  • Public speaking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • First Aid Certification
  • Organizational skills
  • Communication skills
