About the position

The Community Engagement Manager at Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington is responsible for leading a team focused on recruitment and community engagement efforts. This role emphasizes building relationships with diverse communities, promoting Girl Scouting, and driving membership growth through strategic event planning and effective communication. The manager will oversee a team of specialists, ensuring they meet membership goals while fostering an inclusive and collaborative team culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of five Community Engagement Specialists.
  • Ensure the team meets annual membership goals for youth and adults.
  • Supervise planning and execution of recruitment events, presentations, and community engagement activities.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive calendar of recruitment events.
  • Implement recruitment marketing strategies outlined in the Community Engagement V2MoM and council plan.
  • Utilize MEDDIC qualification skills to manage potential leads and ensure accurate data entry into Salesforce.
  • Represent the Girl Scout brand in building and nurturing relationships with local community partners and youth-serving organizations.
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for your team, focusing on DEI, youth development, and leadership skills.

Requirements

  • At least eight (8) years of relevant education and experience, including 5+ years in community engagement, youth development, sales, and/or recruitment.
  • 3+ years leading a team of people.
  • Proven track record in effective event planning and team leadership.
  • Strong proficiency in event planning and execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and facilitation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple deadlines independently.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Knowledge of the Girl Scout organization and mission.
  • Proven success in driving event attendance and generating leads quickly.
  • Understanding of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
  • Preferred bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, nonprofit management, or related field; equivalent work experience considered.
