About the position

The Community Engagement Manager at GRIP Training Institute is responsible for managing and growing programs that support GRIP alumni and survivors both inside and outside of prison. This role involves building sustainable systems and relationships, coordinating advocacy efforts, and overseeing the implementation of new programs aimed at assisting individuals in re-entry. The position requires strong leadership skills and a commitment to social justice, with a focus on personal and community transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow GRIP's alumni and survivor network in re-entry through various strategies and activities.
  • Plan and pilot a new program to support graduates in re-entry, focusing on the first 10-to-90 days home.
  • Establish, train, and guide a team of alumni to be mentors and re-entry navigators.
  • Cultivate relationships and grow the number of survivors participating in GRIP's Mountain Road Survivor network.
  • Coordinate with Area Prison Leads to ensure healing dialogues with survivors are scheduled in each GRIP prison program.
  • Partner with the Program Delivery team to operationalize new programs and training methodologies.
  • Continuously review program metrics and adjust training curriculum related to survivor and alumni engagement.
  • Develop and maintain a database of GRIP Training Institute graduates and key reentry partner contacts.
  • Create and maintain dashboards and reports for performance tracking and compliance.
  • Develop relationships with alumni, survivors, and family members to build a strong stakeholder community.
  • Establish and manage an advocacy team to influence budget and policy decisions.
  • Recruit and mentor community stakeholders to advocate for restorative justice and rehabilitation.
  • Represent GRIP at coalition meetings, conferences, and events related to advocacy and public engagement.
  • Maintain and update a list of resources and partner organizations for alumni being paroled.

Requirements

  • High level knowledge and experience with the carceral and parole system.
  • 3+ years of successful program management and/or managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills and 3+ years experience with people management.
  • Experience creating, monitoring and reporting on performance metrics.
  • Successful experience with engaging and organizing people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience with creating strategic partnerships with governmental and community organizations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of the impact of systems of oppression on communities of color.
  • Fluency with productivity tools such as Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace.
  • Must possess a valid CA driver's license and clean driving record.
