About the position

Become a part of our caring community and help us put health first. The Community Engagement Professional cultivates relationships in the community through advocacy programs, community events, active engagement, and strategic initiatives. This position is a combination of remote work at home and field-facing responsibilities, requiring about 50-75% travel in surrounding Florida counties, primarily focusing on Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties. The Community Engagement Professional builds visibility and credibility of Humana Healthy Horizons throughout the community via events, partnerships, and interactions with C-suite executives. This role involves strategizing methods to scale communities and drive greater connections among community members, engaging with nonprofits, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), and faith-based organizations. The position requires interpreting public health and membership data to implement strategies and influence the execution of company initiatives. The Community Engagement Professional will work closely with non-profit executives, providing a high level of customer service and ongoing engagement. Understanding the department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives is crucial, as is the ability to make decisions regarding work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, with minimal direction. Following established guidelines and procedures is essential to ensure compliance and effectiveness in the role.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate relationships in the community through advocacy programs and community events.
  • Engage community members, nonprofits, FQHCs, and faith-based organizations.
  • Build visibility and credibility of Humana Healthy Horizons through events and partnerships.
  • Strategize methods to scale communities and drive greater connections among community members.
  • Interpret public health and membership data to implement strategy and influence company initiatives.
  • Provide high-level customer service and ongoing engagement with non-profit executives.
  • Make independent decisions regarding work methods in ambiguous situations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or 6 years of experience in a community-serving organization, healthcare, or government program serving Medicaid beneficiaries or vulnerable populations.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish or Haitian Creole, with the ability to pass a Language Proficiency Assessment.
  • Proficient in administration and data management systems.
  • Strong public speaking experience.
  • Knowledge of community-based organizations (CBOs) and faith-based organizations (FBOs) operating structures, social determinants of health (SDOH), and health equity.
  • Understanding of marketing, social media, and public relations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Background in corporate social responsibility, community outreach, education, and/or nonprofits.
  • Experience in supporting Medicaid health plans and/or underserved populations.
  • Familiarity with Florida geography and culture, particularly Broward and Miami-Dade counties.
