About the position
The Community Engagement Specialist serves as a state-wide specialist leading engagement and relationship-building efforts with communities across Michigan. This role involves coordinating efforts across various divisions within the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), facilitating meetings with staff and local communities, and developing community engagement training programs. The specialist will also create outreach materials, host public education workshops, and implement equitable community engagement strategies.
Responsibilities
- Lead engagement and relationship-building efforts with communities across Michigan.
- Coordinate efforts across EGLE divisions and offices.
- Facilitate meetings with EGLE staff and local communities.
- Develop community engagement training programs and resources for EGLE staff.
- Liaise with other divisions to leverage data and resources for community engagement strategies.
- Identify and track public engagement opportunities.
- Develop and maintain outreach materials and resources for EGLE program staff.
- Coordinate and host in-person and online outreach activities.
- Develop and implement public education workshops and community learning sessions.
Requirements
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
- Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.
