About the position

The Community Health Nurse Manager at the University of Maryland Medical Center is a pivotal role that combines clinical leadership with operational management. Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage nursing and clinical support staff providing independent care to unit specific patient population.
  • Oversee and be accountable to patients and families for the processes and outcomes of care during an episode of care.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care addressing patient/family needs.
  • Approve charge nurse decisions and advise staff performing charge roles for assigned shifts as needed.
  • Follow and support the AACN guidelines for Healthy Work Environment, focusing on communication, collaboration, effective decision making, recognition, leadership, and staffing.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland or eligible for licensure.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and experience in community health nursing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in nursing leadership or management (e.g., CNML, NE-BC).
  • Experience in a community health setting or public health nursing.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
