About the position
The Community Integration Skills Instructor at Villa Esperanza Services is responsible for supporting adults with developmental disabilities in their daily activities and community integration. This role involves driving participants to various locations and providing guidance on social skills, personal health, and community resources. The position aims to enhance the participants' independence and quality of life through skill-building and community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Pick up and drive up to 3 adults with developmental disabilities daily.
- Provide guidance on community integration and social recreation skills.
- Assist participants with shopping in natural environments and money management.
- Teach personal health and hygiene practices.
- Help participants utilize community resources and ensure community safety.
- Organize and facilitate fun community activities.
- Support participants in using public transportation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
- Valid CA Driver's License with 3 years of verifiable driving history.
- Ability to pass a DOT drug test screening.
- Background fingerprinting clearance from DOJ/FBI Community Care Licensing/Dept. of Social Services.
- Physical and TB screenings.
