About the position

The Community Integration Specialist role involves providing individualized training and coaching support to adults with developmental disabilities, facilitating their integration into the community. The specialist will assist participants in developing essential skills such as self-advocacy, mobility, self-care, and socialization through hands-on training in various public locations. This part-time position requires flexibility in hours to meet client needs and focuses on promoting independence and community engagement for individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with developmental disabilities in learning skills and developing independence.
• Facilitate the full inclusion of individuals with disabilities in recreation, volunteer, and employment sites.
• Teach safety awareness to participants while they access their community.
• Promote full engagement of each participant in each activity.
• Transport participants to and from job/volunteer activities.
• Train participants capable of learning to navigate the community safely.
• Monitor client progress through case notes and complete Special Incident Reports as needed.
• Participate in planning the monthly calendar and developing new activity curriculum.

Requirements

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED (required).
• Two years of full-time experience working with individuals with physical and/or developmental disabilities (highly preferred).
• Current valid California driver's license, car insurance, and a good driving record.
• Ability to write clear case notes and recognize unusual or threatening conditions related to persons with disabilities.
• Strong time management skills, patient, detail-oriented.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual language skills (Spanish, Korean, Chinese, ASL, Armenian preferred).
• Bachelor's degree (preferred).
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and communication applications.
