About the position

The Community Kids Program Manager at Keystone Community Services plays a pivotal role in leading the Community Kids program, which is dedicated to fostering youth development through a variety of academic, social-emotional, enrichment, and recreational activities. This position is essential in ensuring that both youth and their families have a positive and safe experience in this year-round afterschool program. The Community Kids Program Manager is responsible for managing and guiding the professional development of the Community Kids staff, with a strong emphasis on program quality and sustainability. The program is located at Keystone's West Seventh Community Center and serves approximately 125 youth in grades K-12 each year. In this role, the Community Kids Program Manager will oversee personnel and program management, which includes hiring, training, and supervising program staff, youth employees, and interns. The manager will also facilitate staff development through training sessions, staff meetings, and one-on-one coaching, fostering a cohesive team culture and enhancing professional skills. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for managing staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and supporting classroom and behavior management processes. Communication with parents and families regarding program operations is also a key responsibility. Data tracking and quality improvement are critical components of this position. The Community Kids Program Manager will coordinate data collection, ensuring compliance with privacy laws and best practices. Training staff on accurate data collection and entry is essential, as is collaborating with the Director of Youth Services and external evaluators to monitor program data and support program goals. The manager will lead the Community Kids team through an annual quality improvement process and implement program improvement plans in collaboration with staff. Fiscal management is another important aspect of this role. The Community Kids Program Manager will work closely with the Director of Youth Services to develop and monitor the program budget, track expenses related to specific grants, and assist in preparing grant proposals. Participation in site visits with potential funders and identifying new grant opportunities will also be part of the responsibilities. Finally, the manager may be assigned special projects or additional duties as requested by leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Community Kids program, ensuring a positive and safe experience for youth and families.
  • Hire, train, and supervise Community Kids program staff, youth employees, and interns.

  • Manage staff schedules and ensure adequate staff coverage.
  • Support classroom and behavior management, implementing behavior management processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in a program manager role.
  • Two years of experience in a supervisory role, demonstrating the ability to lead and motivate others in a team setting.
  • Valid Minnesota Driver's License and clean driving record.
  • Strong knowledge of positive youth development and experience managing youth behaviors.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in Education or a related field.
  • Minnesota Teaching Licensure.
  • Knowledge of best practices in the Out of School Field.
  • Bilingual fluency in Amharic, Oromo, Spanish, or Somali.
