About the position

The job of 'Community Liaison' is done for the purpose/s of establishing and maintaining communication between staff, students, and their parents in order to improve the students' success in school.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with school programs and outside agencies for the purpose of achieving program objectives for staff, parents, or students.
  • Makes home visits for the purpose of gaining or sharing information.
  • Prepares documentation and logs for the purpose of fulfilling program requirements.
  • Assists counselors for the purpose of enhancing student communication.
  • Coordinates meetings, including mailings, phone contacts, and sign-in sheets for the purpose of increasing parent knowledge and skills regarding students' education.
  • Attends meetings as required for the purpose of meeting program objectives.
  • Establishes cooperative working relationships for the purpose of achieving program objectives.
  • Translates parent conferences and written documents from English to Spanish for the purpose of increasing communication.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information for the purpose of meeting privacy requirements.
  • Assists the project coordinator in other duties, as needed for the purpose of complying with program requirements.

Requirements

  • Skill to operate standard office equipment including use of basic computer applications.
  • Ability to use English in both the written and verbal form; use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation; proofread and edit documents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, students, parents and school administrators.
  • Knowledge of relevant special program rules and regulations, district policies, and resources available from outside agencies.
  • Ability to maintain the image of the district as an agency committed to the concept of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to communicate with persons of varied cultural and educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, meet schedules, work independently, understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Significant physical abilities include talking/hearing conversations, near visual acuity/visual accommodation.
