About the position

The Community Living Professional Manager at Chariton Valley Association (CVA) plays a crucial role in empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve their highest level of independence. This full-time position is based in Kirksville, MO, and is part of a dedicated team that provides high-quality support services in a loving environment. The manager will be an active member of the Community Living management team, responsible for leading, supervising, and training Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) while coordinating activities across various assigned locations. The Community Living department operates 24/7, ensuring that individuals receive the support they need at all times. In this role, the Community Living Professional Manager will affirm the success of team members by scheduling and training new talent, including Individual Support Plan (ISP) training. The manager will provide constructive feedback through performance evaluations and handle disciplinary actions in accordance with company policy. A positive image of the Center for Human Services will be projected by interacting courteously and professionally with staff, external agencies, parents, guardians, and providers. The manager will create a culture of communication by leading administrative staff meetings, informing the management team of developments or concerns, and addressing issues through critical thinking and problem-solving. They will also participate in ISP meetings and coordinate with individuals, families, support coordinators, and various governmental departments. Maintaining the integrity of records is essential, as the manager will oversee Medication Administration Records (MARs), write implementation strategies for ISPs, and ensure discharge summaries are completed. Supporting the health and welfare of individuals served is a priority, which includes administering medications and collaborating with healthcare professionals. To ensure sufficient workforce coverage, the manager may need to complete shifts to provide direct support and participate in an on-call rotation, being available 24/7 to provide immediate assistance. This role requires a commitment to maintaining cognitive clarity during on-call periods and the ability to respond quickly to various situations.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and train new talent, including Individual Support Plan (ISP) training.
  • Provide constructive and timely feedback through performance evaluations.
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Interact with staff, external agencies, parents, and guardians in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Attend and lead administrative staff meetings to inform the management team of developments or concerns.
  • Address issues or concerns through critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Participate in ISP meetings and coordinate with individuals, families, and support coordinators.
  • Ensure accuracy of Medication Administration Records (MARs) through oversight and supervision.
  • Write implementation strategies related to ISPs for individuals served.
  • Ensure discharge summaries are completed for all individuals served by the Community Living Program.
  • Administer prescription and PRN medications as prescribed by a physician.
  • Collaborate with the Community Registered Nurse on individuals' medical needs.
  • Complete shifts to provide direct support when coverage cannot be satisfied by other means.
  • Participate in a tiered on-call rotation, being available by phone 24/7 to provide immediate assistance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from an accredited university required.
  • Managerial and supervisory experience in a professional environment required.
  • Experience working in the field of intellectual or developmental disabilities required.
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable, licensed, and insured vehicle required.
  • Reliable form of communication.
