About the position

The Community Manager for Coastal Virginia will serve as the face of Yelp in the region, engaging with local businesses and the community to promote Yelp's presence. This role involves event planning, social media management, and marketing to highlight local businesses and foster connections within the Yelp Elite Squad. The position is remote, allowing for flexibility while requiring a strong understanding of the local area and its culture.

Responsibilities

• Attend local events and build connections with local business owners.
• Conceptualize, plan, and execute Yelp events in the region.
• Forge partnerships with local businesses to sponsor events.
• Support the Yelp Elite squad by engaging with their content and keeping them informed.
• Research and curate local business collections for the Local Yelp newsletter.
• Build relationships with local organizations to reach new audiences.
• Manage Yelp's regional social media presence, including copywriting and visual asset creation.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in event planning, social media management, and/or marketing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift 10 pounds without assistance.
• Bachelor's Degree (Preferred).
• Live within 30 minutes of Virginia Beach, Norfolk, or Newport News.
• At least 21 years of age with reliable transportation.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in community engagement or local marketing.
• Familiarity with Canva or video editing tools.
