About the position

The Community Manager at FirstService Residential is responsible for managing all aspects of community associations, serving as an advisor to the Board of Directors, homeowners, and vendors. This role requires independent judgment and discretion while overseeing multiple communities, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and managing financial aspects. The Community Manager also supervises community management staff and fosters relationships within the community and with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of community associations, acting as an advisor to the Board of Directors, homeowners, and vendors.
• Oversee financial management including budget preparation, invoice payments, and delinquency monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with civil code and legal document requirements for the association.
• Act as a liaison to association counsel and educate board members on legislative changes.
• Coordinate and attend client and board meetings, creating agendas and correspondence as needed.
• Manage vendor relations and oversee the RFP process for services.
• Conduct walkthroughs and ensure quality of work presented to clients.
• Foster team building among associates and departments within the company.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or comparable business experience.
• CMCA certification preferred; must be obtained within two years of hire.
• Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to present to large audiences.
• Ability to read and understand financial statements and budgets.
• Strong organizational skills and time management abilities.

Nice-to-haves

• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience in community management or property management.
