The Community Nutrition Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Nutrition programs, Healthy Pantry Program, and Food Systems/Wellness Coalitions. This position will champion organizational efforts to maximize the impact of Food Bank services through Nutrition Education interventions and Food Systems collaboration in the development of innovative services that identify and address health inequities. Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with frequent travel across our 34-county service area expected.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned staff to ensure implementation of projects, programs, interventions, and external collaborations for Nutrition Programming within 34 counties.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (Nutrition) for liaising within internal departments and external partners.
  • Participate in budget creation and ensure funding utilization for all programs and grants, maintain records for reporting, and provide quarterly reports to organizational leadership.
  • Oversee all Nutrition Program and product inventory, onsite teaching kitchen, mobile kitchens, and materials to ensure program effectiveness throughout the entire service area.
  • Manage the development and sustainability of Nutrition Programming for neighbors and community partnerships across the 34-county service area.
  • Manage the development, growth, and sustainability of the Healthy Pantry Program, executing innovative education ideas and models that are equitable across the program.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all neighbors, staff, donors, partner agencies, volunteers, and the public.
  • Perform all other duties as directed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, Public Health, or a related relevant subject required.
  • At least 3 years of direct supervisory/management experience of staff and projects required.
  • Certification as a Registered Dietitian, CHES or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience working with diverse populations.
  • ServSafe Manager's Certification required or ability to complete within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and expertise in nutrition and dietetics for various populations.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, analytical, presentation, organizational, and public speaking skills with high attention to detail.
  • High level of judgment and decision-making skills and personal integrity.
  • Ability to adapt well to change and manage teams through change.
  • Ability to task prioritize and manage competing demands.
  • Teamwork skills to build internal and external relationships to work towards a common goal.
  • Understanding of the root causes of food insecurity and inequities of the food system, demonstrating a commitment toward food justice.
  • Valid NC driver's license for frequent travel within the 34-county service area.
