About the position

The Community Outreach Associate at Ascend Public Charter Schools plays a vital role in supporting student recruitment efforts by enhancing brand awareness in the neighborhoods of Flatbush, Cypress Hills, and East Brooklyn. This part-time position requires approximately 25 hours of work per month over a duration of six months, focusing on community engagement and relationship building.

Responsibilities

• Canvass the neighborhoods where Ascend schools operate promoting to residents and businesses.
• Represent Ascend schools with tablings at neighborhood businesses, community events, recruitment fairs, public or commercial locations and other external events.
• Liaise with and foster relationships between neighborhood daycares, 3K/UPK programs, afterschool programs and Ascend school leaders, supporting both parties in building long-lasting partnerships and cultivating a strong pipeline of new students.
• Participate in phone banking outreach initiatives designed to cultivate potential leads.
• Provide an excellent customer service experience in all interactions with Ascend schools, community-based organizations and potential leads.
• Expertly guide interested families through the application process in person, by phone or online demonstrating deep knowledge of Ascend practices and processes.
• Foster and maintain relationships with community-based organizations in the neighborhoods that we serve through regular in-person, phone-based and email communications.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Bilingual or strong Sylheti, Spanish, or Haitian Creole language skills preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines successfully.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Systems and Google Suite.
