About the position

The Community Outreach Peer Support Specialist at the Ernest E. Kennedy Center is responsible for providing peer support and recovery resources to clients undergoing substance use disorder treatment. This role involves administrative and clinical support to the Mobile Crisis Team, ensuring effective service delivery and client recovery. The specialist will manage referrals, conduct behavioral health screenings, and assist in obtaining necessary information from community partners while adhering to HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support and recovery resources to clients in substance use disorder treatment.
• Assist the Mobile Crisis Team in delivering services and supporting client recovery.
• Manage referrals to the agency, including obtaining preliminary information from clients and referral sources.
• Contact clients prior to appointments to confirm dates and times.
• Conduct and score behavioral health screenings for clients.
• Assist with progress summaries and gather information from community partners as permitted by HIPAA.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least two continuous and current years of sobriety and recovery.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and goal-oriented mindset.
• Ability to adhere to principles of successful recovery.

Nice-to-haves

• Certified Recovery Specialist certification.
• Certification to conduct HIV/Hep C testing.
