About the position

The Community President at WaterStone Bank is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing branch sales activities and ensuring the achievement of sales results. This position requires a dynamic individual who can coordinate and manage retail employees while also maintaining a strong leadership presence within the bank, branch, and the broader community. The Community President will work closely with the Regional Manager to develop, monitor, and implement action plans that align with the bank's strategic objectives, budgetary controls, and profitability goals. This role is not only about driving sales but also about fostering a positive work environment where employees are motivated, coached, and developed through ongoing education, technical training, and constructive feedback. In addition to sales responsibilities, the Community President will be involved in various operational aspects of the branch. This includes planning, coordinating, and managing administrative processes and workflow procedures to ensure that branch staff delivers prompt, efficient, accurate, and friendly service to customers. The Community President will also be responsible for originating and closing Consumer and Residential loans, ensuring that all agreements are complete, accurate, and compliant with regulatory requirements. Staying informed about industry trends and external factors that may impact the bank is crucial, as is the ability to identify and recommend reasonable changes to policies, procedures, and products as necessary. The role requires a strong focus on team management, including conducting interviews, hiring, monitoring employee progression, and evaluating performance. The Community President will also have the authority to discipline or terminate employees when necessary and will recommend promotions and salary adjustments based on performance. This position is essential for maintaining a high standard of service and operational excellence within the branch, contributing to the overall success of WaterStone Bank.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Regional Manager to create, monitor, and maintain action plans to achieve branch goals supporting WaterStone Bank's strategic objectives.
  • Motivate, coach, and develop retail staff through education, technical and sales training, and performance management.
  • Conduct interviews, hire, monitor individual progression, evaluate, discipline, or terminate employees when necessary.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage branch administrative and operational processes and workflow procedures.
  • Ensure branch staff provides prompt, efficient, accurate, and friendly service to customers according to WSB service expectations.
  • Originate and close Consumer and Residential loans, ensuring all agreements are complete, accurate, and compliant.
  • Maintain knowledge of WSB's core processing system, products, services, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements governing retail accounts.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, standards, and external factors that may affect the bank.
  • Identify and recommend reasonable changes to policies, procedures, and products.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of sales and supervisory experience.
  • 3-5 years of business development experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associates or Bachelor's Degree in business or equivalent preferred.
