About the position

The Community Programs Manager at Antelope Valley Learning Academy is responsible for implementing Community Schools strategies to support the emotional, social, and health needs of students and their families. This role involves collaboration with school administrators, faculty, families, and community partners to develop integrated community school strategies and oversee various programs and activities on campus. The position aims to enhance student growth and development through effective program management and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and coordinate projects as identified by the principal, including identifying fund development and strategic partnership opportunities.
  • Coordinate school and community partners support services personnel in alignment with school academic and community goals.
  • Support and facilitate annual conversations with site leadership, teachers, and staff to identify shared instructional and school climate vision and goals.
  • Assist with the alignment to school vision and priorities through effective assessment and referral processes.
  • Maintain consistent communication and collaboration with partners and families around school goals.
  • Assess school community needs and assets, overseeing integration of services and programming for students.
  • Support evaluation efforts and refinement of student support systems, building staff capacity to follow beneficial systems.
  • Perform administrative duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Manage, coordinate, supervise, coach, and direct the hiring and training of team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Administration, Social Work, or related field, or 2 years equivalent work experience in major student/family support areas.
  • 3 years of experience in coordination and/or management in an educational, non-profit, or human services setting.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local programs related to school improvement.
  • Experience in community organizing and school-based service delivery.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate events that foster family and community participation.
  • Experience developing and managing program budgets.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of research-based strategies that support parent, family, and community engagement.
  • A high degree of cultural awareness and competency in cross-cultural practice with children and families.
  • Experience with data collection, analysis, and program evaluation.
