About the position

The Community Recovery Manager for the Hurricane Helene and Milton Long-Term Recovery Operation is responsible for leading recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, ensuring that the American Red Cross engages effectively with affected communities. This role involves collaboration with various organizations to provide support and resources to individuals and households impacted by the disaster, focusing on vulnerable and underserved populations. The position is hybrid, requiring frequent travel to impacted areas, and is expected to last until September 2026, with potential for extension based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the American Red Cross is engaged with all Long-Term Recovery Groups post-disaster within a defined territory and participate in LTRG meetings.
  • Liaise with voluntary, faith-based, and community-based organizations for post-disaster recovery planning within a defined territory.
  • Ensure that community efforts and Red Cross services reach all affected populations, especially vulnerable and underserved communities.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to Community Disaster Program Managers and Specialists on issues relevant to meeting client needs and maintaining client focus of all response and recovery activities.
  • Support provision of assistance to individuals and households with remaining unmet needs and qualifying barriers to recovery.
  • Liaise with NHQ Long-Term Recovery partners to ensure consistency in service delivery across the American Red Cross.
  • Build and manage a team of community recovery volunteers to execute community engagement strategy in designated area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience with building, mobilizing, leading and developing volunteer teams to execute a social services program or service, or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor to accomplish work through team leaders.
  • Ability to develop project plans & budgets.
  • Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills to interpret program trends and results.
  • Proven track record of collaboration with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work outside of regular duty hours including nights and weekends.
