About the position

The Community Recovery Manager (CRM) at the American Red Cross plays a crucial role in supporting long-term recovery efforts following disasters, specifically for the Hurricane Helene and Milton Long-Term Recovery Operation. This position is responsible for engaging with various community organizations, ensuring that recovery services reach all affected populations, and building local capacity for disaster response. The CRM will work collaboratively with regional and chapter employees, volunteers, and partner organizations to facilitate recovery programming and services in impacted areas.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the American Red Cross is engaged with all Long-Term Recovery Groups post-disaster within a defined territory and participate in LTRG meetings.
  • Liaise with voluntary, faith-based, and community-based organizations for post-disaster recovery planning.
  • Ensure community efforts and Red Cross services reach all affected populations, especially vulnerable and underserved communities.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to Community Disaster Program Managers and Specialists on client needs and response activities.
  • Support disaster case management planning with multi-agency partners.
  • Assist individuals and households with unmet needs and barriers to recovery.
  • Liaise with NHQ Long-Term Recovery partners to ensure consistency in service delivery.
  • Build and manage a team of community recovery volunteers to execute community engagement strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience building and supporting a volunteer workforce preferable.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in creating presentations and developing training modules.
  • Proven track record of collaboration, facilitation, problem solving, marketing, leadership, and partnership management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in disaster recovery or humanitarian work.
  • Knowledge of community engagement strategies.
  • Familiarity with federal and state disaster recovery programs.
