About the position

The Community Relations Manager at WHRO plays a vital role in establishing and maintaining strong connections between the organization and the communities it serves. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that align with business goals to foster positive relationships within the community. The role includes overseeing advisory boards and leading the Virginia Humanities project, ensuring community perspectives are integrated into decision-making processes.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, build, and nurture partnerships with local organizations, community leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization at community forums, meetings, and events to foster a positive presence.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to integrate community perspectives into decision-making processes.
  • Oversee the Community Advisory and Emerging Leaders Boards to enhance engagement and connections to WHRO Public Media.
  • Coordinate activities to achieve project goals in collaboration with Virginia Humanities.
  • Implement systems for collecting and analyzing community engagement data.
  • Prepare regular reports on community engagement activities and outcomes.
  • Plan community relations events and meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years of experience in community relations.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and oversee diverse projects simultaneously.
