About the position

This position is designed to enhance the overall work of the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) to help ensure that it fulfills its role in building relationships with diverse groups of individuals and organizations. The Community Relations Manager will report directly to the JCRC Director and will play a crucial role in leading the Federation's strategy to conceptualize and implement initiatives that effectively build relationships across various racial, ethnic, and religious communities. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and coordinating opportunities for intergroup and interfaith collaboration, maintaining strong relationships, and cultivating new partnerships with diverse stakeholders to enhance the bridgebuilding work of the Federation. In addition to relationship-building, the Community Relations Manager will collaborate in the design and implementation of innovative programming and content aimed at strengthening the Jewish Federation's ties to diverse segments of the Miami-Dade community. This role requires maintaining knowledge and professional expertise on relevant issues impacting community relations, collaborating with Jewish communal agencies on antisemitism and Israel programming, and staying informed about the government affairs priorities of diverse stakeholders and Jewish communal agencies. The Community Relations Manager will also oversee the efforts of lay leaders and committees on community relations initiatives, correspond with key community partners on various domestic and international issues, and work with media outlets to ensure accurate coverage of the Jewish public agenda. Additional responsibilities include drafting issue briefings, action alerts, and JCRC newsletters, seeking and facilitating grant opportunities focused on bridgebuilding work, and representing the JCRC at meetings throughout the County and State. Other duties may be assigned by the Director as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Help lead the Federation's strategy to conceptualize and implement initiatives that effectively build relationships with diverse groups of individuals and organizations across racial, ethnic and religious communities.
  • Identify and coordinate opportunities for intergroup and interfaith collaboration.
  • Maintain strong relationships and cultivate new partnerships with diverse stakeholders to enhance our bridgebuilding work.
  • Collaborate in the design and implementation of innovative programming and content to strengthen the Jewish Federation's ties to diverse segments of the Miami-Dade community.
  • Maintain knowledge and professional expertise on relevant issues that impact the community relations space.
  • Collaborate with Jewish communal agencies on antisemitism and Israel programming as appropriate.
  • Stay apprised of the government affairs priorities of diverse stakeholders and Jewish communal agencies.
  • Work with and oversee the efforts of lay leaders and committees on community relations initiatives.
  • Correspond with key community partners on a range of domestic and international issues, with an emphasis on antisemitism and Israel.
  • Work with and monitor media outlets to ensure that the Jewish public agenda is appropriately and accurately covered.
  • Draft issue briefings, action alerts, and JCRC newsletters.
  • Seek, write and facilitate grant opportunities, with a focus on bridgebuilding work.
  • Collaborate with other Federation staff members and departments on related projects.
  • Represent the JCRC at meetings held throughout the County and State.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred with coursework in civic and community engagement, public affairs or related fields.
  • Understanding of Israel and the Jewish world, religion, tradition and values.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in Jewish communal, nonprofit, public sector or related field.
  • Excellent research, written, verbal communication and proofreading skills are essential.
  • Experience working collaboratively and effectively with diverse lay leaders, volunteers and colleagues.
  • Understanding of committee management and development.
  • Skilled in program development, management and evaluation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Strong grant-writing skills.
  • Capacity for public speaking.
  • Ability to network and reach out to organizational and individual leadership throughout the County and State, as needed.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.
