About the position

The Community Relations Project Manager is responsible for managing the development and implementation of community relations and public involvement strategies for the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) projects. This role focuses on building and maintaining positive relationships between ADOT and its stakeholders, ensuring compliance with public involvement plans and federal mandates during project study, design, and construction phases. The position may allow for remote work within Arizona, promoting a flexible work culture.

Responsibilities

• Manage professional consultants on project delivery, focusing on public-involvement activities during project study and design phases.
• Develop and implement public involvement and communications plans for projects in accordance with the ADOT Public Involvement Plan and federal requirements.
• Proactively manage outreach activities, schedules, and budgets, documenting outreach conducted.
• Work with project teams to develop project schedules and traffic-control plans, providing timely updates to stakeholders.
• Plan, write, and collaborate with subject-matter experts to create project-related collateral such as fliers, videos, and brochures.
• Build and maintain strong internal stakeholder relationships through collaboration with Communications and other ADOT offices.
• Attend project meetings and review project plans to understand project details and implications for the public.
• Coordinate with project teams on public outreach strategy and tactics.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
• 7 years of experience in communication, community relations, or public relations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and basic computer skills.
• Strong public speaking and writing skills.
• Ability to develop and implement effective public involvement plans.
