About the position

The Community Research Associate (Per Diem) position at Cedars-Sinai focuses on improving health care and outcomes for older adults through the Elders Preserving Independence in the Community (EPIC) study. This role involves collecting research data, providing administrative support, and coordinating clinical activities to compare the effectiveness of in-home preventive healthcare programs versus on-site health classes for low-income older adults. The goal is to enhance health behaviors and functional independence while limiting dependency on costly health services.

Responsibilities

  • Collect research data in community settings around Los Angeles.
  • Provide administrative support for scheduling and completing research interviews.
  • Participate in recruitment events and health fairs to increase participation.
  • Organize clinical/research trials in conjunction with the Principal Investigator and funding sources.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures.
  • Analyze data and prepare scientific findings for publication as co-author.
  • Lead and train Research Assistants, Research Fellows, and lower-level Research Associates.
  • Orient new Research Fellows and/or Research Scientists to day-to-day operations and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in biological science, social sciences, public health, or related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with peers, patients, physicians, and other customers.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to analyze and interpret information and/or data.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent organization skills, and detail-oriented.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual/Multilingual is desirable but not required.
  • Flexibility with travel and scheduling, if necessary.
