About the position

The Community Research Associate / Project Coordinator at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) plays a vital role in the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). This position focuses on coordinating the AAC Peer Support Project and supporting various UCEDD research activities. The role involves developing, implementing, and evaluating strategies to enhance community-engaged research capacity and partnerships, particularly in the area of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). The coordinator will engage with community partners to promote the health and quality of life for individuals with disabilities and their families across different regions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the AAC Peer Support Project and support other UCEDD research activities.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate strategies for community-engaged research capacity.
  • Facilitate collaboration and communication with disability organizations at local, regional, and national levels.
  • Organize and lead virtual and in-person meetings for dissemination and leadership.
  • Engage with community partners to promote health and quality of life for people with disabilities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field and 2 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 4 years of relevant experience.
  • 2 years of experience in research and community services, preferably in project coordination.
  • Experience working with individuals who use or need AAC and effective communication with them.
  • Experience in disseminating information in accessible formats.
  • Experience leading national meetings with AAC users and disability organizations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in social work with 10 years of experience in the developmental disabilities field.
  • Experience with project management for national consortiums of organizations and individuals who use or need AAC.
  • Experience with community-based disability organizations.
