About The Position

The Community Service Officer (State Law Enforcement Dispatcher) plays a crucial role in maintaining public safety by serving as the first point of contact for emergency and non-emergency calls. This position involves dispatching law enforcement officers, monitoring communications, and coordinating responses to incidents, ensuring effective communication between the public and law enforcement agencies.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or a general equivalency diploma is required.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and calm during emergency situations.
• Strong communication and active listening skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively with law enforcement officers and agency partners.
• Ability to understand and apply various information/data, including maps and law enforcement terminology.
• Critical thinking and judgment skills to evaluate information and make decisions quickly.
• Ability to multi-task and handle multiple calls simultaneously.
• Discretion and integrity in handling sensitive information.
• Proficient in operating a two-way radio system, multi-line telephone, and computer systems.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in emergency dispatch or public safety communications.
• Familiarity with law enforcement terminology and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Responding to emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Dispatching Troopers and other state law enforcement officers.
• Monitoring and responding to radio and data communications traffic.
• Helping coordinate efforts between FHP and other agencies after crash incidents.
• Receiving, relaying, and documenting call/incident details and law enforcement activity.
