About the position
The Community Support Assistant (CSA) plays a vital role in providing comprehensive community-based residential and support services to individuals with mental health, intellectual, and addiction needs. This position focuses on hands-on, intensive skill-building interventions to promote independence and well-being among clients. The CSA collaborates with Community Support Specialists to help clients achieve their aspirations through person-centered, strengths-based, and culturally competent methods. The role also includes performing various duties as assigned, with a strong emphasis on supporting individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, intellectual disabilities, and addiction.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on, intensive skill-building interventions to clients.
- Collaborate with Community Support Specialists to support client aspirations.
- Assist clients in achieving independence and well-being.
- Maintain reliable transportation for client transport as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree preferred; Associates or 60 credits towards a Bachelor's Degree with 1 year of experience in a related field considered.
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 years of experience in a related field considered.
- Prior experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, intellectual disabilities, and/or addiction.
- Knowledge of community support systems and resources preferred.
- Valid Connecticut Driver's license with a clean driving record required.
- First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic record keeping.
