About the position

The Community Support Specialist (CSS) role within the Mindstrong/Emerging Adults Program focuses on providing mental health support to young adults facing serious mental health challenges. This position involves coaching clients towards achieving their personal goals related to work, relationships, and independent living. CSS professionals engage in care planning, case management, and facilitate activities that contribute to the overall development of clients, adapting to their unique needs and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Provide mental health support to young adults in the community.
• Assist clients in achieving their goals related to work, relationships, and independent living.
• Engage in care planning and case management to connect clients with necessary resources.
• Facilitate activities and programs that contribute to clients' overall development.
• Drive clients to appointments, benefits offices, and grocery stores as needed.
• Adapt to clients' schedules and treatment plans on a daily basis.

Requirements

• Passion for mental health advocacy with youth and young adults.
• Strong writing skills and time management abilities.
• At least 21 years old.
• Valid driver's license and current car insurance with daily access to a car.
• High school diploma or GED with 5 years of supervised clinical experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field, or a Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in trauma-informed care and harm reduction practices.
• Familiarity with the Transition to Independence (TIP) Model.
