About the position

As a Community Support Specialist (CSS) - Floater at the Hazelwood Day Program, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities to live their best lives. This full-time position, offering $21 per hour with a potential increase after 90 days, involves working Monday through Friday, typically from 8 am to 4 pm. Your primary responsibility will be to teach skills that enhance the independence, self-esteem, and community participation of adults. You will assist one to four participants in planning meaningful daily activities that align with their interests and goals, ensuring that each individual feels valued and engaged. In this role, you will engage participants in various activities both in the community—such as visits to local parks and baseball games—and at the Day Center, where you might facilitate music therapy sessions or arts and crafts. Transportation of individuals to and from these activities within the St. Louis metropolitan area will also be part of your duties. Additionally, you will assist participants with personal care tasks, including restroom assistance, meals, and dressing, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
