About the position

The Community Support Specialist I position is a full-time role focused on providing community support services to individuals facing serious mental health challenges. The specialist will work directly in the community, assisting clients in accessing essential resources such as housing and food assistance, while maintaining a caseload that may vary. This role emphasizes face-to-face interactions with clients and requires local travel using a personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provides community support services to complex clients, utilizing treatment plan interventions for positive outcomes based on individual strengths and needs.
• Completes timely documentation of services, detailing the need for the service, interventions provided, and the client's response.
• Contacts individuals or referral sources after missed appointments to re-engage clients and support recovery efforts.
• Supports individuals in crisis situations, ensuring safety and alertness as a critical function of the job.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2-5 years of related work experience preferred, especially with individuals suffering from mental health challenges.
• Valid Class D (IL) or Class E (MO) driver's license required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with individuals suffering from severe mental health issues is strongly preferred but not required.
