About the position

The Community Support Specialist II at BJC Independence Center is responsible for providing community support services to individuals recovering from serious mental illness. This role focuses on maximizing opportunities for clients to engage in their community while managing their mental health. The position involves working closely with clients to implement treatment plans, document services, and support individuals in crisis situations, all within a collaborative and restorative environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides community support services to complex clients, utilizing treatment plan interventions to achieve positive outcomes based on individual strengths and needs.
• Completes timely documentation of services, detailing the need for the service, interventions provided, and the individual's response.
• Contacts individuals or referral sources after missed appointments to re-engage clients and promote recovery efforts.
• Supports individuals in crisis situations, providing necessary assistance and guidance.
• Mentors and provides job shadowing opportunities to community support colleagues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field.
• No prior experience required.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Licenses: Class D (IL) or Class E (MO) certification.
