About the position

The Community Support Specialist (CSS) at Thresholds plays a vital role in providing mental health and substance use treatment support to individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness. This position focuses on delivering care in the community, helping clients navigate complex systems, and enhancing their daily living skills. The CSS will work collaboratively with clients to develop care plans and remove barriers to mental healthcare, contributing to their growth and recovery in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health and substance use treatment support in the community.
  • Assist clients in navigating complex systems and accessing resources.
  • Drive clients to appointments, benefits offices, and grocery stores to strengthen daily living skills.
  • Develop and implement care plans tailored to individual client needs.
  • Collaborate with clients to remove barriers to mental healthcare.

Requirements

  • Passion for mental health advocacy.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Good writing skills.
  • Strong time management and organization skills.
  • At least 21 years old.
  • Valid driver's license, current car insurance, and daily access to a car.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or GED certificate with 5 years of supervised clinical experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in an unrelated field with 2 years of supervised clinical experience.
  • Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
