About the position

The Community Support Specialist will work within the Women & Children Substance Use Disorder Program at ReDiscover, a non-profit community mental health center. This role focuses on empowering women and children affected by addiction through various support services, including case management, therapy, and resource connection. The specialist will maintain a caseload of clients, facilitating their progress towards personal goals and overcoming barriers related to addiction and mental health.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and interact with a caseload of clients with diverse characteristics either in-person or over the phone.
• Facilitate each client's achievement of long-range outcomes of symptom management, employment, and independent living based on their needs.
• Engage difficult-to-serve clients by investigating all potential resources to gain access and make connections.
• Help remove barriers for clients, including participation in community or social service programs, referrals to educational or working programs, and assistance with transportation barriers.
• Collect and maintain information about clients and document interactions within ReDiscover's designated electronic medical record.
• Communicate and collaborate with an internal multi-disciplinary team to address various aspects of wellness and ensure positive communication regarding the coordination of client care.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a social science field or 4 years of equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
• Valid automobile driver's license and appropriate automobile insurance.
• Working knowledge of mental illness and substance use disorders.
• Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word, Excel, and G-Suite.
