Collaboration is key, as the specialist will work closely with clients, their families, and other stakeholders to ensure that individualized treatment plans are effectively executed. The position requires a strengths-based approach that emphasizes empowerment, skill-building, and resilience. The Community Support Specialist will incorporate evidence-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing, Positive Reinforcement Techniques, and Trauma-Informed Strategies, as well as skills based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Behavioral interventions will also be a significant part of the role, including motivational interviewing and cognitive processing. Coordination of care with other service providers, such as primary care physicians, psychiatrists, schools, and community organizations, is essential to ensure comprehensive support for clients. The specialist will maintain accurate and timely records of client interactions and progress, participate in staff development activities, and contribute to the organization's quality improvement initiatives. Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and counselors, is also a critical aspect of the role. Additionally, the Community Support Specialist will prepare for and facilitate group sessions as part of the client treatment plan goals.
