About the position

The Community Support Specialist position involves providing essential services to individuals and families within their homes and communities. The primary focus is on enhancing relationships through effective resource management and problem-solving strategies. Specialists may be required to offer a variety of services, including transportation, tutoring, and case management, tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. This role emphasizes collaboration with clients to develop personalized plans aimed at achieving their goals, which may include advocacy, self-advocacy training, and parental coaching. The position requires working as part of a team while adhering to the guidelines set by sponsors and management, ensuring that all services provided align with the overall objectives of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide services in the home and community of individuals and families.
  • Assist clients in developing plans to meet their goals.
  • Offer transportation, tutoring, case management, and other necessary services.
  • Provide advocacy and teach self-advocacy skills to clients.
  • Engage in parental coaching as needed to support client goals.
  • Collaborate with team members within the parameters set by sponsors and management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with people with disabilities is preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.
  • CPR Certification is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
