About the position

North Suffolk Community Services Inc. is seeking dedicated Outreach Specialists to join our team as Community Support Specialists. In this role, you will be actively involved in the engagement, assessment, and treatment planning processes for individuals served by our organization. You will collaborate with a committed team to address the diverse needs and goals of these individuals in both community and group living environments. Our team is focused on providing person-centered interventions and treatment plans that encompass various areas such as housing, risk mitigation, transportation, skill-building, money management, and medication administration. The ultimate aim is to empower individuals to lead self-directed lives. As a Community Support Specialist, your responsibilities will include engaging with individuals to enhance their health and wellness, achieving symptom stabilization, and fostering self-management. You will gather information about community agencies to facilitate the provision of services and provide side-by-side support and coaching to help individuals socialize effectively. Additionally, you will organize and lead both individual and group social and recreational activities, ensuring that the assigned interventions and action steps of the treatment plan are carried out. This will involve providing direct support and rehabilitation services to individuals, groups, and families, both in the office and in community settings. Collaboration with Housing Coordinators will be essential as you assist individuals in finding safe and affordable housing. This may include apartment hunting, roommate matching, landlord negotiations, and helping with cleaning, furnishing, and decorating their new homes. You will also participate in medication administration in accordance with MAP and DMH policies and protocols. The starting salary for this position is $44,500, with potential increases based on experience and certifications. Additionally, a $5,000 differential is offered for fluency in Spanish or American Sign Language, along with a $3,000 sign-on bonus. Positions are available in Chelsea, East Boston, and Boston.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree highly preferred.
  • At least one year of experience with a population that has severe and persistent mental illness and/or substance use disorder in lieu of a college degree.
  • Bilingual Spanish and American Sign Language skills desired but not required.
  • Must be MAP and CPR/First Aid certified within five months of hire (training provided).
  • Massachusetts Driver's License required.
