About the position

The Community Support Specialist (CSS) at The Home for Little Wanderers plays a vital role in fostering a positive learning environment at Clifford Academy, a therapeutic school for youth facing emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges. This full-time position involves working closely with the CSS Coordinator to implement effective school structures and routines, ensuring a safe and productive atmosphere for students. The CSS is responsible for supporting students academically and socially, managing medical and emergency situations, and adhering to school policies.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the CSS Coordinator to initiate and maintain effective school structures and routines.
• Use Therapeutic Crisis Intervention strategies when supporting youth.
• Assist students in meeting their academic and vocational expectations both inside and outside of classrooms.
• Complete all necessary paperwork including incident reporting.
• Provide coverage of shifts as needed, including support for students residing at the Walpole campus.
• Help manage medical and emergency situations.
• Ensure students adhere to school policies as detailed in the Clifford Academy Handbook.
• Perform other community support duties as deemed necessary by the Principal.

Requirements

• Equivalent to two years of college and/or two years of child care experience in a residential setting with a similar population.
• Supervisory experience is helpful.
• Computer literate including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer with the ability to learn new software applications.
