About the position

The Community Support Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing the lives of residents at New Hope Housing by coordinating and implementing various events, programs, and services. This position serves as a liaison between community service agencies and residents, ensuring that their needs are met through effective communication and support. The specialist is responsible for building trusting relationships with residents, facilitating change, and providing direct assistance as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the coordination and implementation of events, programs, and services for residents.
• Develop effective, honest, and trusting relationships with residents.
• Facilitate change in behavior and meet residents where they are.
• Provide information and referral services to residents, maintaining confidentiality.
• Establish partnerships with social service agencies to enhance client resources.
• Initiate, develop, and lead life skills and support groups.
• Proactively advertise services, events, and programs to residents.
• Monitor and organize pantry supplies and distribute donations according to guidelines.
• Assist Community Manager with managing late rent and creating payment plans.
• Record case notes of resident interactions and actions taken.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience in social service support preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in senior care is a plus.
