About the position

CCRSI is seeking a part-time Community Support Specialist to provide Community Integration (CI) and Individualized Skill Development (ISD) to individuals in the community. The role is essential in assisting individuals to engage in community activities and achieve maximum independence. The Community Support Specialist will work directly with individuals, enabling them to participate in various social and recreational activities, including social clubs, volunteering, and organized worship or spiritual activities. This position requires flexibility in scheduling, as work hours will be built around the individuals' needs and preferences, including evenings and weekends. The Community Support Specialist will assist individuals with activities of daily living, which may include bathing, toileting, dressing, meal preparation, feeding, grooming, and household cleaning. The role also involves supporting individuals in their homes or in the community, ensuring they can engage fully in their daily lives. Training and oversight will be provided by the CCRSI Associate Executive Director, and all required DMH and CCRSI trainings must be completed by the employee. This position is vital for fostering independence and community participation among individuals with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting and teaching participation in community activities.
  • Enabling individuals to engage directly with people who are not paid to provide them services.
  • Supporting individuals to be fully participating members of the community in activities such as social clubs/events, recreational activities, and volunteering.
  • Assisting individuals to achieve maximum independence in their community.
  • Supporting individuals with activities of daily living, either performed directly by staff or with assistance from the individual.
  • Providing supports in the individuals' home or in the community.
  • Assisting individuals with bathing, toileting, dressing, meal preparation, feeding, grooming, recreation, leisure activities, exercise, household cleaning, and laundry.
  • Completing all required DMH and CCRSI trainings.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; no college degree necessary.
  • Experience working with the Developmental Disabilities (DD) population is preferred.

Benefits

  • Starting pay is $17.47 per hour.
