About the position

The Community Support Specialist at TASC plays a crucial role in assisting individuals in obtaining and maintaining affordable housing. This position focuses on developing supportive stabilization plans, conducting housing assessments, and providing referrals to meet clients' behavioral health and social needs. The specialist will work closely with clients to help them navigate the complexities of housing applications, utility connections, and other resources necessary for successful community reintegration.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals in achieving service plan goals through direct services and coordination of behavioral health, public agencies, and community resources.
  • Conduct eligibility assessments, in-person and virtually.
  • Identify available housing options and familiarize clients with their tenants' rights.
  • Coach clients on how to resolve landlord issues and assist in determining client rental payments according to program procedures and guidelines.
  • Conduct client outreach and assessments, collecting documents from clients or service providers for assessment and reassessment.
  • Create client housing stabilization plans that match the needs identified in assessments.
  • Ensure medical provider information is documented in the database and appropriate releases of information are on file.
  • Complete all supportive services referrals as necessary to address housing stabilization barriers.
  • Assist clients in financial literacy capacity building through family budget training and obtaining a copy of their credit report.
  • Assist in client move-in requests for support and utility reconnection processes.
  • Participate in the reconciliation of rental payments to landlords and clients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least two years of administrative experience.
  • At least three years of experience in data entry and extensive user experience with computer hardware and software.
  • At least two years of experience with various software applications, including Microsoft Office, particularly Access.
  • Technical aptitude and ability to understand and follow technical instructions.
  • Trained in various TASC computer systems.
  • Basic knowledge of database structures, queries, and data maintenance.
  • Experience working with external partners, collecting, verifying, and maintaining information.
  • Ability to make cold calls and represent the agency in a professional manner.
  • Keep informed of all policies, procedures, and regulations that apply to this position.
