The Community Support Specialist position is designed for individuals who are passionate about helping clients meet their goals. Services are provided within the client's residence and/or in the community, primarily in the Tacoma, WA area. This role is a contracted position, with the potential for increased hours based on performance and availability. The position requires driving to various locations, and may involve assisting clients with transfers and activities of daily living (ADLs) in some cases. Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, ethical, organized, and strong communicators who can take initiative and meet deadlines with ease. As a Community Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing support to clients in their homes and communities, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance to achieve their personal goals. This role requires a commitment to maintaining professional standards and providing compassionate care to all clients. You will be expected to document your interactions and services provided using a tablet, and therefore, having access to a reliable device is essential. Additionally, you will need to maintain professional liability insurance and be prepared to undergo background and driving history checks. This position offers a flexible schedule, allowing you to manage your time effectively while fulfilling your responsibilities. Mileage reimbursement is provided for travel between client locations, making this an attractive opportunity for those who enjoy working in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized therapies and services to clients in their homes and communities.
  • Assist clients with transfers and activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.
  • Document services provided using a tablet or iPad.
  • Maintain professional liability insurance and comply with all regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members to ensure quality care.
  • Drive to various locations within the Tacoma, WA area to meet clients' needs.

Requirements

  • CPR Certification for pediatrics and adults; must have or be willing to obtain upon hire.
  • Professional Liability Insurance; must have or be willing to purchase upon hire.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to pass a background and driving history check.
  • Current full coverage auto insurance.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university (preferred).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with brain injury, IDD, mental health populations, and/or the Veteran population.
  • Military service or experience working with the Veteran population.
  • Own or be willing to purchase a tablet for documentation.
