About the position

The Community Supports - DSP Community position at Community Access Unlimited is a part-time role focused on enhancing the quality of life and independence of individuals with developmental disabilities. The primary responsibility of this position is to develop and coordinate training programs tailored to the needs of members, ensuring that they receive the necessary support to thrive in their community. The role emphasizes the application of normalization principles, which aim to integrate individuals with disabilities into everyday life, providing them with educational training that fosters their growth and independence. In this position, the employee will be responsible for maintaining program standards and ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of members. This includes overseeing medication administration and addressing medical needs, as well as managing the integrity of members' finances. The role also involves facilitating adequate employment and recreational opportunities for members, ensuring that they have access to fulfilling activities that promote their well-being. The DSP will maintain appropriate interactions between staff and members, ensuring compliance with the Individual Support Plan (ISP) process and various quality assurance programs. This includes adhering to program licensing and CARF requirements, providing direct support to members, and maintaining expectations set forth by Carelogic. Regular communication through the CAU email account is also a key responsibility, along with cooperation with agency personnel and legal authorities during inspections or investigations. The position requires compliance with health mandates, such as wearing masks during public health crises, and the employee may be assigned additional duties as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains program standards of operation and development.
  • Ensures members' health, safety, and welfare, including appropriate medication administration and medical needs.
  • Ensures the integrity of members' finances.
  • Ensures adequate employment and recreation for members.
  • Maintains appropriate staff/member interactions.
  • Ensures compliance with the annual Individual Support Plan (ISP) process for members.
  • Ensures compliance with the Agency's Periodic Service Review and other quality assurance programs.
  • Ensures compliance with various program licensing and CARF requirements.
  • Provides appropriate direct supports to members.
  • Maintains Carelogic expectations.
  • Checks CAU e-mail account on a regular basis.
  • Cooperates with Agency personnel, legal authorities, and Department of Human Services in any inspection or investigation.
  • Ensures compliance with wearing a mask when mandated by State, Federal, and Licensing authorities during a public health crisis/pandemic.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • One year working with people with developmental disabilities.
  • BA/BS in psychology, special education, social work, or related field or related experience working in the field required.
