About the position

The Community Transformation Manager at Proyecto Pastoral will oversee and coordinate the organizing and advocacy activities of the Promesa Boyle Heights Collaborative, focusing on environmental justice initiatives. This role involves managing relationships with stakeholders and funders, supervising a team, and collaborating with community leaders to address local challenges and advocate for equitable policies. The manager will support fundraising efforts and ensure the integration of environmental justice into programmatic strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the organizing and advocacy activities of the Promesa Boyle Heights Collaborative.
  • Supervise the Community Transformation team, including the Senior Community Organizer, Youth Organizer, and Promotra Network Coordinator.
  • Support planning for the Community Transformation team budget with the program director.
  • Conduct research and public policy analysis on environmental justice issues impacting education and community health.
  • Develop and execute a recruitment plan to engage parents and youth in environmental justice initiatives.
  • Lead the development and execution of plans to engage supporters in environmental justice campaigns.
  • Assist in developing grassroots campaign plans addressing environmental justice issues.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of grassroots organizing experience and supporting different campaign phases.
  • Supervisory-level experience in past job positions is a must.
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred, or other comparable organizing work experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of organizing principles and coalition-building is required.
  • Strong adaptive leadership abilities, including conflict management and team building.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team.
  • Experience managing dynamic projects and working with diverse populations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data analysis software and social media.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and some weekends.
