About the position

The Companion Animal Territory Representative is responsible for engaging with customers in the Metro East, Illinois area, specifically focusing on veterinary clinics, shelters, and corporate accounts. This role involves understanding customer needs, selling the company's Animal Health Companion Animal product portfolio, and collaborating with field sales teams to enhance customer relationships and drive sales growth. The representative will analyze sales results, manage expenses, and develop strategies to meet customer needs while ensuring the company's value and innovations are communicated effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Interact face to face with customers to understand their needs and consult on solutions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, meeting with key personnel to understand their business models and identify opportunities.
  • Develop customer strategies to enhance relationships and drive sales growth of Animal Health products and services.
  • Create territory and account plans for key customers, collaborating with National Account Managers and Distribution Field Partners.
  • Analyze monthly sales results and manage expenses within budget guidelines.
  • Identify and select programs/services to address customer needs and provide education and training opportunities.
  • Work with leadership to develop and deliver relevant offerings that meet customer needs.
  • Stay updated on Animal Health products, industry trends, and competitor landscape.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with sales experience preferred or a minimum of high school diploma with at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated motivation and focus on achieving measurable results.
  • Commitment to collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Ability to understand customers' evolving needs and expectations.
  • Effective application of selling techniques and managing multiple accounts.
  • Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Sales experience and/or experience within the Animal Health Industry.
  • Knowledge of animal health biological and pharmaceutical products.
  • Understanding or experience working with distribution.
  • Multi-lingual fluency preferred, particularly in Spanish.
