About the position

The Company Police Officer (CPT) position involves performing general law enforcement duties to protect life and property within the FirstHealth Corporate system, primarily focusing on hospitals in Moore, Hoke, Richmond, and Montgomery Counties. The role requires working various shifts, including nights and holidays, and responding to incidents after hours. Officers will patrol facilities, investigate disturbances, assist patients and visitors, and perform traffic control duties, all while exercising judgment and maintaining public safety.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol facilities and property in a police car, on foot, by bicycle, or other appropriate means.
  • Check doors and windows; examine premises of unoccupied buildings.
  • Detect unusual conditions and maintain surveillance for stolen cars, missing persons, or suspects.
  • Report dangerous or defective streets, sidewalks, traffic signals, or other hazardous conditions.
  • Control patient and visitor entry into the Emergency Department and operate metal screening systems.
  • Assist with mental health patient custody issues and arrange transportation to other facilities.
  • Respond to calls for assistance, complaints, suspicious activity, and domestic disputes.
  • Investigate traffic accidents and issues traffic citations; direct traffic as needed.
  • Perform investigations of accidents and possible crimes through observation and questioning witnesses.
  • Advise the public on laws and local ordinances; testify in court and execute search warrants.
  • Regulate and direct vehicular traffic at busy times or when traffic signal malfunctions.
  • Prepare detailed records and reports of activities.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school and completion of basic law enforcement training.
  • Possession of a valid NC driver's license or the ability to obtain one.
  • Certification by the North Carolina Justice Training and Standards Commission as a law enforcement officer or ability to complete the NC BLET 'Transfer' course.
  • High level of computer literacy and technical competency.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and participate in multiple projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal skills, including telephone skills and customer service focus.
  • Strong writing skills; self-motivating.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in law enforcement preferred.
