The role requires preparing and maintaining job descriptions that accurately reflect the work performed by employees, conducting interviews and surveys to gather job-related information, and assessing jobs to determine their classification and appropriate salary ranges. The analyst benchmarks jobs against market data to ensure competitive compensation and prepares summary reports on job and compensation analyses. The position also involves conducting data and cost analyses for employee negotiations and collective bargaining agreements, researching employee benefits in similar industries, and collaborating with the Sr. Benefits Specialist to recommend updates to existing benefits policies. The Compensation Analyst serves as the project manager for the annual retirement plan audit and works with various stakeholders to collect employee feedback on compensation and benefits. This role requires advising management on employment regulations and human resource procedures, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Research job requirements and evaluate job positions to ensure competitive salaries and benefits.
  • Prepare and maintain job descriptions for each position in the organization.
  • Conduct interviews and surveys to gather job-related information from employees and managers.
  • Assess jobs to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range.
  • Benchmark jobs against survey data and market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges.
  • Prepare and maintain job classifications and salary grades.
  • Prepare and present summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information.
  • Gather data from market-based compensation surveys and analyze results and trends.
  • Evaluate and implement job analysis instruments and materials.
  • Conduct data and cost analyses for employee negotiations and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Research employee benefits in similar industries and recommend changes to existing policies.
  • Collaborate with insurance brokers and investment planners to maintain competitive benefits packages.
  • Serve as project manager for the annual retirement plan audit.
  • Conduct focus groups to collect employee feedback on benefits and compensation.
  • Plan and communicate best practices for total compensation and rewards.
  • Advise management on employment regulations and compensation policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related disciplines required.
  • Minimum of 3 years as a compensation analyst required.
  • Current knowledge of personnel policies, practices, compensation, and wage/hour employment regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
  • HRIS experience preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong time management, flexibility, decision-making, planning, and organizational skills.

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP or related compensation certifications preferred.
