About the position

The UT Dallas Office of Human Resources is seeking an experienced employee compensation professional to join their employment & compensation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of professional, technical, and analytical compensation duties related to the maintenance, implementation, and administration of the university's compensation policies and programs. As a Compensation Analyst II, the individual will work under the direction of the HR Director and will be tasked with administering organizational compensation programs. This includes evaluating and analyzing salary data, determining pay grades and FLSA designations, and conducting market analysis to assess the competitive positioning of the university's pay programs. The position also involves leading the university's participation in salary surveys to benchmark and analyze competitive salary information, ensuring that the institution remains competitive in its compensation offerings. The Compensation Analyst I role, also under the HR Director, focuses on first-level compensation duties, including reviewing salary data, assisting with compensation surveys, and maintaining accuracy within various systems supporting the compensation program. Both positions require a strong understanding of compensation techniques and practices, as well as advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. The work environment is supportive, and after training, there is an opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, provided that individuals reside within the DFW metroplex.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support activities to develop and administer compensation policies and programs.
  • Review and conduct job analyses; recommend appropriate salary grades or market rates for specific jobs according to market-driven guidelines.
  • Assist with developing and updating the University's compensation program, including the annual salary change process and monitoring adjustments to ensure accuracy.
  • Conduct research, analyze data, and prepare recommendations requiring a broad understanding of compensation techniques, methods, and practices.
  • Conduct job analyses to determine appropriate salary levels according to compensation guidelines.
  • Formulate recommendations regarding salary structure, FLSA exemptions, and job descriptions.
  • Review annual salary adjustment requests in accordance with established guidelines, policy, and practices.
  • Participate in special studies of problem areas requiring job analysis, job evaluation, or similar techniques.
  • Keep abreast of new and emerging compensation trends, creative solutions, and legislative changes.
  • Collect and analyze competitive salary data to determine the institution's market relationship.
  • Lead the University's participation in salary surveys to benchmark, analyze, and collect competitive salary information to determine the company's competitive position.
  • Responsible for maintenance of compensation program information posted on the Office of Human Resources website.
  • May lead the work of other compensation staff.
  • Participate/lead special projects and process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Three (3) years or more experience in compensation administration with hands-on knowledge of market pricing and job evaluation techniques.
  • Calculation and interpretation of mathematical formulas such as percentages, ratios, statistical average, median, and multiple regressions.
  • Advanced proficiency level in Microsoft Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience leading and/or working with a third party to complete an organization-wide compensation review.
  • Supervisory or lead worker experience.
  • Experience working with PeopleSoft HRIS and job data information.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience using external compensation-related platforms and tools (e.g., Payfactors).
  • CCP Certification.
  • PHR or SPHR Certification.
