About the position

The Compensation Analyst at Washoe County School District plays a crucial role in ensuring competitive and equitable compensation practices across the district. This position involves conducting detailed analyses of job roles, evaluating compensable factors, and recommending appropriate pay grades based on market data and collective bargaining agreements. The analyst collaborates with various stakeholders to support effective human resources management and performs related work as required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive job analyses to determine essential job functions, required qualifications, and appropriate classifications within the district.
  • Evaluate compensable factors such as skills, experience, and responsibilities to establish fair and competitive salary schedule, range, or pay grade recommendations.
  • Conduct salary surveys and gather relevant compensation data from comparable educational institutions and other relevant industries.
  • Analyze market trends and recommend adjustments to compensation strategies to attract and retain talent.
  • Respond to requests to evaluate compensation and recommend compensation changes to senior leadership.
  • Conduct interviews with incumbents and supervisors and conduct desk/position audits.
  • Document rationale and make classification recommendations to Executive Cabinet/Chief Human Resources Officer.
  • Maintain appropriate human resources systems software data and configuration to support the compensation strategies aligned on by leadership.
  • Perform special studies of a non-routine nature, including researching laws and best practices, preparing surveys and compiling results, extracting and analyzing complex human resources data, composing reports and making presentations of findings.
  • Develop job descriptions, including appropriate minimum qualifications and license requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in human resources, psychology, business management, education administration or a closely related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience performing complex technical assignments and providing technical support for a public or private human resources program.
  • Experience in human resources administration, including recruitment, selection, job analysis, compensation and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations pertaining to human resources administration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Human Resources Information systems, including database programs and online employment application systems.
  • Public speaking skills.
