About the position

The Compensation Analyst at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) plays a crucial role in analyzing and evaluating the organization's compensation practices. This position involves conducting thorough analyses of jobs, hourly wages, salaries, and incentives to ensure internal equity, external competitiveness, and compliance with legal standards. The analyst will make informed recommendations regarding salary grades or market rates for specific positions, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the organization's compensation strategy. Additionally, the Compensation Analyst will assist in the development and administration of incentive programs, performance review processes, and merit-rating programs, ensuring that salary increases align with organizational policies and budgetary constraints. In this role, the Compensation Analyst will also be responsible for developing and documenting procedures to streamline compensation processes. This includes maintaining and updating PayFactors market data and job descriptions to ensure they reflect current and accurate information. The analyst will participate in and conduct market surveys, FLSA analyses, and state-mandated reporting, providing analytical support to internal stakeholders on various projects. Evaluating classifications and compensation in accordance with university pay practices and guidelines is a key responsibility, as is assisting in the creation of new job classifications. The Compensation Analyst will also provide recommendations for salary grades or market rates based on business case reviews and Workday-related action items. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the department's objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis of jobs, hourly wages, salaries, and incentives to evaluate internal equity and external competitiveness.
  • Make recommendations regarding salary grades or market rates for specific jobs.
  • Assist in the development of incentive programs and the administration of performance review or merit-rating programs.
  • Review salary increases for compliance with organization policy and budget.
  • Develop and document procedures to streamline compensation processes.
  • Ensure PayFactors market data and job descriptions are updated and maintained with current and accurate information.
  • Participate in and/or conduct market surveys, FLSA and Appropriation analysis, and required state mandated reporting.
  • Provide analytical support to assist internal stakeholders in projects.
  • Evaluate classifications and compensation in accordance with university pay practices and guidelines.
  • Assist in creating new job classifications.
  • Provide recommendations for salary grades or market rates through business case reviews and/or Workday related action items.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in education, human resources, business, accounting, budget, finance, or a related area.
  • Three (3) years of experience in compensation, human resources, accounting, financial reporting, or analytics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience as a UAMS employee.
